Table legs to candle holders

After working with furniture for as long as I have, most of my friends and family (even just acquaintances) know that I provide free trash pick up. I just cannot say no to picking up someone’s junk furniture! You just never know when you are going to get something really good!

At the end of this past summer, I called my husband on my way home and said I was going to be late… had to make a stop. (It was getting dark early so my hope was that he would not see me load all this new furniture into our garage!) Unfortunately, this pick ended up being kind of a bust. The furniture was not really worth keeping as solid pieces. However, I thought some of the individual parts might be useful down the road, so I kept them. (This is a very clever thing to keep in mind when you’re junking. It’s all about preservation! Check us out on Pinterest, we have a board called “The Parts of its Sum” that explores this thought!) For one of the tables I had picked, I kept the legs and the apron. They sat around for a while until I finally I made the apron into a necklace holder. After staring at the legs a little longer an idea finally came to me to make them into three tier candle holders.

Just like old times, the next step was to go visit my Pops! I thought this would be a fun project for us to do together.

All finished up! I have 4 more sets to make yet. Each set will be slightly different. Stay tuned to see what the others will look like!

What do you think? Have you done something similar yourself? Let us know!

Get your junk on!
